Self-portraits. It has been a lonnnng time since I tackled a portrait, and after a few attempts at painting others, I realized I needed a live model I could spend more than a few sessions with. So, with the help of a mirror, and my painting teacher Dorallen Davis, I (“we”) worked on this oil painting for nine weeks! And I learned a ton in the process. This was done in the colorist style (think Monet), as are all paintings at the Marin Art School where I take lessons.

The painting below wasn’t done by me (I just sat for it), but thought it would be fun to see another artist’s take on the same subject matter (me). This was done by Claire Pasquiere for her Portrait Landscape project. It was painted with acrylics on wallpaper and, amazingly, in just a few hours! If only…
