If you’re visiting San Francisco any time within the next year, you have to take a walk at Crissy Field and check out this installation by renowned sculptor Mark di Suvero. I saw these sculptures being installed last month but just recently spent some time walking around all eight of them. They’re huge, and in various shades of “international orange” are reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. When you walk up close you see that some of them have cutout shapes and big steal beams or concrete balls hanging from cables as they sway in the wind. It’s impressive—and I wonder where these huge sculptures will live after May 2014, because they seem so at home here.
